Banana cake for little monkeys

Do they bake cakes in the jungle?

Banana cake recipe

While someone enjoys going skiing, I prefer to spend winter in sunny Africa! Elephants seem a bit scary to me, so I rather became friends with a lovely family of monkeys. Bananas are their favourite treat – but when they grew a bit tired of them, papa monkey decided to use them to create something much better! And I've been stopping by for a piece of this sweet cake ever since. Sometimes I help him out with baking – but then we always end up arguing about the right way to peel a banana!

You can easily prepare this delicious cake by yourselves. Just be careful – I've heard that a banana peel is easy to slip on!

Banana cake recipe

What I need

For the batter:

1 ½ cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ cup (125 g) melted butter
½ cup sugar
½ tsp salt
2 eggs
2-3 very ripe bananas
chocolate, nuts, cinnamon
3 tsp flour to dust the form
1 tsp butter to grease the form

Equipment:

bowl
fork
stirring spoon
teaspoon
cup
baking form

Instructions

1) I mash the bananas using a fork. I add sugar, melted butter, salt and eggs. I mix soda with flour and slowly stir them into the mixture. If I want to, I can add chopped nuts or chocolate.
2) Then I prepare a baking form. I put a tablespoon of butter into it and grease the inside of the form properly using my fingers. Then I pour about three tablespoons of flour, grab the form tightly and shake it from side to side until flour covers every spot.
3) I pour banana batter into the form. I bake the cake for about 50 minutes at 175 degrees. And that's it! Enjoy!

Have you seen a tattooed banana?

Before you start baking, you can use the bananas to play a little! Did you know that a banana peel turns brown where you prick it? So grab a needle, pin or a sharpened pencil and start tattooing!
