Battle ships

Why do I keep losing?

Battle ships recipe

Why is it so hard to win?

Ever since I’ve flown out into the world, I wanted to find friends! However, no matter how hard I try, I can’t find a single cuckoo’s nest. I wonder why? Luckily, I found a lovely bird family in a treetop. One bird just hatched, and we’ve been playing games and competing ever since! My friend is smaller, but also faster, and I’m stronger! But however well I play, I always lose this battle. It’s because my brother keeps eating his ships!

What I need

For the batter:

⅓ stick butter
½ cup sugar
1½ cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
4 eggs
3 tablespoons orange juice
5 tablespoons whipping cream

For the battle:

Anything I like!
Perhaps I can use blueberries and raspberries as ships, and whipped cream or yoghurt for the bombing.

waffle maker
citrus press

Making batter:

1) First of all, I let the butter soften in a bowl for about half an hour. I add sugar into the bowl and whip it together with a mixer. I crack 4 eggs into the bowl. I add cream and orange juice and I whip it again.
2) Spoon by spoon, I add flour with baking powder and stir. When all the flour is in the bowl, I whip it once more with the mixer.
3) I turn on the waffle maker and let it heat up. I fill it with batter by using a ladle. I bake the waffles for 7 to 9 minutes.

Sea battle:

1) I put my freshly baked battlefields on a plate. I choose an opponent and each one of us takes two waffles.
2) I pick the colour of my ships. I place the ships on my battle waffle. My opponent does the same. I will mark the position of his ships on my other waffle. I take yoghurt or whipped cream that I’ll use to mark my hits.
3) The battle may begin! No matter if I win or lose, I get a sweet waffle battlefield filled with fruit and yoghurt as a reward. But whoever doesn’t eat their waffles at the end of the game is defeated!

Game rules

Here’s how you can play this game:

First of all, set the number and shapes of the ships that you and your opponent will place into the grid. Each of you takes two waffles.

Every player places their ships into their grid any way they choose—the ships just cannot touch each other. Also, remember not to let your rival see your battlefield, then they would win easily!

And the game begins! Take turns guessing in which square the rival hides their ships. Mark all the squares you shoot on your other waffle, to know where you’ve already aimed. How about putting fruit where you’ve hit a ship, and marking a miss with yogurt or cream?

The first one who sinks all the enemy’s ships wins!

Don’t forget to eat your sweet battlefields as soon as the game is over! They taste delicious; not only to the winners but also to the losers.
